About

Jenny Gaunt is a songwriter and musician from Perth, Australia. Her folk/alternative style has been described as “hauntingly beautiful” but also carries elements of social justice and a slight incredulity. She writes songs with content including but not limited to; people and events from Australian history, feelings and healthy vegetables.

Personal and authentic, mixing the lighthearted with the melancholoy in a perfect yin and yang, her songs really “get you in the feels” (according to one punter). Her experience touring Europe, Australia and within the West Australian folk scene has well prepared her to step out solo. She mixes a proven love of storytelling with raw feeling to create her new songs.

Jenny released her debut solo EP in November 2018. The songs on this recording (one of which was nominated for WAM’s Song of The Year) are carried by guitar, keys and cello. Performing with musicians Ashley Wheeler (double bass) and Emily Verscheur (violin), the Jenny Gaunt trio brings depth and sensitivity to her songs.

She likes being outdoors, under a tree, with a good book (preferably with her dogs).
